Funeral homes.

A family who calls after hours is told the call was received and the director will call back. The director still speaks with every family.

How can a funeral home make sure a family calling after hours hears back, and the director still speaks with them?

A family can call at any hour, and the director can't always pick up. After hours, the phone rings out or goes to a voicemail box that may not be checked until morning. The caller has just lost someone and is trying to reach a person. Not every caller leaves a message, and a family that reaches no one may try another home. Nothing replaces the director's voice. What is missing is a gentle word that the call was heard, and a director who knows who called.
